This is a list of the bands that have appeared (or are due to appear) at the Club. Apart from Open Mic at the top (as this is a regular fortnightly event), the bands (will eventually) appear in alphabetical order and have links (where available), so you can find out more about them! Go back to Future Events.

A 12 piece Classic Soul Band who have been together since 1990 and have played not only all over the UK, including The Marquee Club, The Café Royal,, Upton Blues, and in Vienna, Cairo, Tenerife, Germany and Dublin (and Machen)!

The choir was formed in 1906 by members of Caerphilly Cricket Club . The aim was initially to make money to improve facilities! The choir still carry on the proud tradition of their founders supporting many good causes. All love to sing and their senior Choristers are an inspiration and coach new members who are always welcome.

Always a big night when they play at the Legion. Standing room only, if you don’t get there early!
Mad Tom's Crowd band logoMad Tom’s Crowd
MTC Mad Tom’s Crowd are a collective of 4 bands of musicians who have been evolving for over a decade. Their unique style of performing songs old and new using African drums, guitars, flute & vocals sets a rhythm that you have to get up and dance to. They love audience participation, have led music workshops, and raised £1,000’s for charity. MTC are a regular feature at the USC on New Year’s Eve.

Gareth and Mikey on vocals/guitar and beatbox are the Mad Yolks! Always a stellar performance when on at the club and sometimes seen at Open Mic.
The Mad Yolks have been playing festivals and other live music gigs for over 15 years. Long may they continue.

Two members of two established bands, (Roadhouse and Jumangi), have come together and formed Melting Point. Both local boys, with a good following, playing a bit of classic rock, Rhythm & Blues, from Bob Dylan to Gary Moore, and everything in between.

This 3 piece band is not your average rock covers act — they’re louder, bolder, and bring an edge. If you like your rock on the heavier side, this is the one. From Led Zep to The Beatles, plus some killer tracks you’ve probably never heard but will instantly love, they’ll leave you wanting more. It’s always standing room only when these guys hit the stage.
Out of Exile

A duo fused from the very best of Smokestack Lightnin and Jaded, playing an eclectic mix of your favourite covers, from the 60s right up to the current day.

Palm tree antics – popular reggae band with a sprinkling of Ska, playing songs by Bob Marley, UB40, Desmond, Dekker, The Eagles, Prince, 10 CC, and many more. Dig out your reggae shoes!
Riff Raff
Accomplished, experienced musicians – songs to get you up dancing. Playing hits by Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Spencer Davis group and many others.
RoadhouseRoadhouse
Angy, Billy, Colin and Robin make up Roadhouse. Playing rock hits from the 70s on. A popular band and a regular at the club.
Rob Lear Band

Rob’s band blends instrumentalists including Van Morrison bassist Pete Hurley, african rhythm student Liz Mullins, country guitarist Brett Green and Back Of Beyond’s drummer Tim Robinson. The success of the release of their first album was quickly followed by appearances playing a host of shows and summer festivals alongside the likes of Seth Lakeman, Show of Hands, The Mystery Jets, Hayseed Dixie and Martin Simpson.

Smokestack Lightnin
Smokestack Lightnin’ are a 5 piece blues rock band from Cardiff, South Wales, consisting of Luke George on vocals, Steve Dunn & Mike Dunn on guitars, Gary Phillips on drums and David Macdonald on bass. Formed in early 2014 as an Original band playing self penned blues.

The music has been well received by blues rock lovers from all over the world getting airplay both on local and internet radio and through live performances around the UK.
